Epic journey, lost wallet and a $100 blister..

Well what a journey! Door to door took us around 40 hoursto get to Melbourne. We we warmly greeted by Master Wilkinson who had spent the night on a metal seat in Tullamarine arrivals. Check in, bags down and a walk along the Yarra river for a 7 quid pint at Transit bar. Jonny almost however nearly went thirsty as the doorman mistook jetlag/mega journey as being mortal. After a quick quiz we granted entry and enjoyed the first drink of our 7 month adventure. On leaving we were advised to head to the lively backpackers area and a pub called the Joint. Scott to doorman “Are you open?” ”Yes” said the doorman. “Can we come in?” To which doorman replied “Yes, but no shorts”.

Sun was shining the next day. Brief walk to St. Kilda which was more like a 10K hike. Spotless beaches, beautiful southernly view of the city aswell as amazing individually stylized homes littered the route. Return journey took us through Albert park ( pictured ) which also boasted a nice view of the city over the lake. Lake was home to lots of black swans whose excrement rivalled a great danes! The night was spent in the hostel bar utilising happy hour with jugs of Boag’s.

Lost wallet changed our original plans for this leg of the journey. In it was Jonny’s driving licence needed to hire a car for “The Great Ocean Road”. While the plans were changing, someone was spending on the bank card which was located in said wallet .. Fellow travellers are not as honest as the hotel reception said, it would seem. Another walk took us through the beautiful Botanical Gardens and the Shrine war memorial. Walk also took us past the MCG where we gawped at the scale and thought of the 100’000 cricket fans it would hold at the boxing day test match.

Our new laid plans were now to head up to Manly beach for 4 nights before heading to Sydney. We booked our Greyhound bus pass which would be our mode of transport for the next 2 months. After a Van’s with no socks induced blister that had become infected. Wilky decided a trip to the doc’s was in order. He returned to the hostel $100 out of pocket and with 2 weeks worth of antibiotics in his hand. No drinking for Wilky for 2 weeks. Could he keep this up?

Boot camp Lowy has been keeping us trimmed to the max with his resistance band and has everyone dropping and giving 20 every morning. Federation Square was home to Mountain Dew skateboarding event on Saturday where we went to watch the finals of the best skaters Oz had. Jonny reckoned he would have won the contest hands down but no one would lend him a board, so he said.. Happy hour started at 8 where more jugs were on the cards. This is where Wilky failed.
